About the Nursery & Garden Industry NT


The Nursery & Garden Industry NT (NGINT) is the peak body representing Nurseries and Garden Centres as well as allied traders.  We also represent a growing number of businesses from the amenity horticulture sector, including landscaping – designers, suppliers and contractors, irrigation services and garden maintenance.  NGINT is responsible for overseeing the development of our industry in the Northern Territory. This includes:

  • Liaising with government departments and authorities on relevant industry issues
  • Working with Nursery & Garden Industry Australia (NGIA) and Horticulture Australia Limited (HAL) to determine industry marketing and research and development initiatives as well as funding priorities
  • Providing strategic direction and leadership to the industry
  • Ensuring communication of relevant industry information
  • Working with the national and state Nursery & Garden Industries to ensure unity, strength and synergy


Our goal is to ‘build better businesses’ by helping and supporting our members to improve their profit, performance and professionalism.

NGINT is taking the lead in implementing the initiatives of the Nursery & Garden Industry Strategic Plan and helping members fulfil the industry vision.

The six objectives of the Strategic Plan are:

  1. To achieve business sustainability by facilitating change in business culture and improved business practices.
  2. To promote plants, gardens and landscapes to consumers.
  3. To have a strong unified industry with one voice and identity.
  4. To influence the opinions and policies of governments and key external bodies for the benefit of our industry.
  5. To position our industry as the community’s leader on relevant environmental issues.
  6. To ensure the industry has the resources and structures needed to implement its vision.
